Based in Wiseton, near Doncaster, Mechspec MG Centre have been supplying new and used parts for classic MG vehicles since 1985 and have built up a brilliant reputation both here in the UK and the USA. Mechspec’s range of almost unobtainable, second-hand parts is extensive when it comes to MGB and Midget. Although their yard boasts an impressive collection of neatly piled spares including bonnets, doors and whole cars, boss Dave Parker confessed to discovering a set of MGC front hubs buried under a fork lift truck.

Mechspec's global reach grew with the advent of the Internet, particularly through sourcing MG parts from the USA. In 1990, Dave placed a magazine ad seeking parts and cars, leading to a partnership with Harry Dove from Georgia after purchasing four cars. Harry was soon combing junkyards around the States for MG cars and parts that would have otherwise been scrapped. Since then, Mechspec have received 12 shipments from the USA, recovering parts from about 2,000 MGs.

Although Mechspec has a lot of experience stripping cars, the sale of spares equates to roughly 50% of the business. The remaining business involves the sale and repair of vehicles, and they also have a talent for building cars. To meticulous detail, right-hand man, Steve utilises new and reclaimed parts from the yard to restore 'scrappers' to their former glory.
