The MGC shares very similar exterior brightwork with the contemporary MGB Mark II, but there are differences that distinguish the two cars on close inspection. The MGC uses the same chrome front grille as the MGB, and most exterior chrome trim, bumpers, overriders, door handles, and side mouldings, is common to both models.
However, the most obvious brightwork difference is the horizontal stainless steel bonnet strip that runs across the MGC's distinctive bonnet bulge. On the MGB, the raised section of the bonnet above the MG badge is smooth, on the MGC, this area carries the bonnet moulding as a distinctive feature of the model.
Badges
The MGC carries its own specific boot lid badge reading 'MGC' on Roadsters, while GTs use individual letter sets spelling 'MGC GT' on the tailgate. These are unique to the MGC and should not be confused with MGB badging. Badge fixings include push-fix and blind-fix options.
Mirrors, Bumpers, and Trim
Exterior and interior mirrors, chrome front and rear bumpers with overriders and fixings, front grilles, side mouldings, threshold plates, and all decorative trim items are the same as those fitted to the MGB Mark II (1967 to 1969 specification). Stainless steel upgrade alternatives, oversills, number plate backings, and chrome or stainless wheel nuts, are available for owners seeking enhanced corrosion resistance and appearance.
