MG TD & TF Brakes

The TD and TF had twin leading shoe type Lockheed hydraulic brakes with a drum size of 9” with linings of 1 ½” wide. Activated by a vertically mounted brake pedal were a combined supply tank and master cylinder. Incorporated with a bell-crank for the handbrake, the rear brakes had a single cylinder floating on the back plate. The brake drums were usually painted black and initially bolted and riveted to the hubs, but from the introduction of the wire wheels, non-integral hubs were used. The ha1ndbrake lever was chrome-plated with a black plastic handle and chrome-plated button.
