MGB GT V8 Brakes

The MGB GT V8 had a Lockheed hydraulic braking system with 10 ¾” diameter discs at the front and 10” x 1 ¾” drums at the rear. The front discs were thicker than the four cylinder MGBs at ½” and this demanded the use of a one off caliper with a pad that gave a slightly increased swept area. It had a conventional handbrake, operating mechanically in the rear drums, with cable actuation from the handbrake level mounted on the tight hand side of the transmission tunnel. The handbrake lever was a ratchet type with a thumb button release. The V8 had an improved servo unit with bigger bore from the start of production.
